The world seems different once the sun goes down. Join us at twilight on the summer solstice for an evening of stories about circadian rhythms, midnight adventures, metaphorical darkness and literal sunlight.

Super/Natural: Stories of Science and the Unknown

From medicine to mysticism, we share stories that explore the boundaries of what we know about the world around us. Expect tales of weird science, dramatic breakthroughs, the power of belief and the allure of the unknown.

Friday, July 26 (Rain date: August 2)

Appetites and Desires

We explore how our needs, both physical and emotional, bring us together and, at times, pit us against each other. Join us for an evening of delicious stories about food, hunger, ambition, and passion.

Postponed until August 30

2016 Schedule

We’re thrilled to announce our third season of Audio Under The Stars, which will start in May and run through August at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke. Based on feedback from you, we’re scrapping the idea of an indoor backup venue and instead planning rain dates for each of our shows.

Here’s what we’ve got planned:

May 27 – Bad Advice & Second Chances
(rain date June 3)
June 17 – Destination Unknown: trips, travels and unexpected journeys
(rain date June 25)
July 22 – Danger: tales of mischief and misfortune
(rain date July 29)
August 26 – Work It: stories of labor and leisure
(rain date September 2)

As always, we look to you to share your stories and the work of other talented radio-makers. Please send us your submissions: http://audiounderthestars.org/themes/

Are the Dog Days Really Over?

We are looking for great audio stories that (loosely) fit the theme of Dog Days: Stories of Indolence and Frenzy. If you have a story, or have heard a story you think fits, use this link to send it our way!

It’s not all lazy days and picnics. The Dog Days were once considered an evil time when “wine grew sour and dogs turned mad.” Send us the good and the bad: summer flings and overheated outbursts; stories of indolence and frenzy. Plus, dogs. We like dogs.  Submit a story>

We are looking for great audio stories that (loosely) fit the theme of “haunted.” If you have a story, or have heard a story you think fits, use this link to send it our way!

What is it you can’t let go? Who- or what- won’t let go of you? If you’ve got stories of obsessions, fixations, otherworldly encounters, or unwholesome interests, open your closet of skeletons and let us have a peek. Submit >
